Welcome to my Bird Photography and Image Processing Workshop

Part 1: Birding and Photography Expedition
The first part of our workshop is dedicated to the exhilarating pursuit of birds in their natural habitats. Under my guidance, you'll embark on a journey through diverse landscapes teeming with avian life. Learn the art of patience and observation as you seek out a variety of bird species, from the majestic raptors to the delicate songbirds. I will provide you with invaluable tips on camera settings, field techniques, including how to approach your subjects, use natural light to your advantage, and compose striking images that tell a story. This hands-on experience is designed to help you develop a deeper connection with nature and a keen eye for capturing fleeting moments.

Part 2: Image Editing and Processing Masterclass
Once you've captured your bird images, the second part of our workshop focuses on transforming those raw photographs into polished masterpieces. You will learn the essential techniques of image processing. From basic adjustments to advanced retouching, I will walk you through each step using industry-leading software. You'll gain insights into color correction, noise reduction, sharpening, and other critical aspects of post-processing. This class aims to equip you with the skills needed to enhance your images, bringing out the vibrant details and dynamic compositions that make bird photography so rewarding.
By the end of this workshop, you will not only have a collection of beautiful bird photographs but also the knowledge and confidence to edit and present your work professionally. What to Expect/Bring
This workshop is designed to be a one-on-one so you’ll have a full personalized experience. The day will be roughly 8 hours long, and we will spend the last 2 hours on image processing. It would be helpful if you bring your laptop, card reader, and external hard drive so we can process images together.
A mid- or pro-level DSLR is recommended, with a telephoto lens of at least 400mm. An extender of 1.4x or 2x would also be useful. Just to give you an idea on equipment - I’m currently using Canon R5 and Canon RF 100-500.
Depending on the season, wear comfortable clothes that would keep you warm for chilly mornings and afternoons, and cool for mid-day sun. Should we experience a rainy season, I will update you accordingly.
Bring binoculars, comfortable walking/hiking shoes or boots, hat, bug spray, sunscreen. Water will be provided.
There will be no strenuous hike. Most walking distances are relatively short. The day will be casual and fun-filled.
